Hi, just watched this vid, it was shwoing 1100 Mac g5's in a cluster doing 10 Teraflops, what is that? :s, what exatly do clusters do? can do process apps faster?, so could 3 computers be turned into a cluster and use all there cpu power to run one single app?
I doubt it would make your typical application that much faster but sure enough if you do CAD, video editing etc it would be useful. Computer cluster - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Clusters can be used for many things, sometimes they can be used for rendering large 3D scenes over multiple computers. Other times they can be used with web servers/database servers with load balancing, for extremely large and busy sites.
Ah, i was thinking about maybe linking my emachines, pentium 4 and amd 64 computers together to make a cluster, but i dont see the point now, no use for me.
If you have 10,000 playstation 3s lying around you could link them up and have a computer which will match the latest greatest supercomputer they are still building! Still pretty useless though! Not unless you've got 10,000 mates who all like the Tiger Woods game!
Haha, lucky me, i have that many playstation 3's in the shed . are playstation 3's powerfull enough to run windows vista at a good rate?
i hope the hackers come alogn and mod the ps3, coz if they get vista to run on it, and everything working including games, propor keyboard, my vista pc will be the ps3
it has 512mb i think, i ran it with that, and the cell cpu is probs like 5 times more powerfull than my cpu, so it will probs run fine.
