What do you guys recon about this Sound Card? I want to use it for my 5.1 system, have no plan for 7.1
It's not a bad chip, although if you're an audio freak, it proabably won't satisfy you. For most people, it should do the job nicely---sound-wise anyway.
That chip is very old! The computer I am using as I type this has one of those - albeit a stereo version. It does the job, but doesn't impress
I ve Dell Dimension 4400 PC, Other day I put surround speakers on my Aiwa system, then I realise that sound is not very good. I looked on the Dell's website and found that my computer has " Audio2 Audio controller ADI 1885 2 Present only on computers with integrated audio capabilities. " Dont know what all this shit is~!~! So I decided to buy a sound card. I do not want to spend a lot, I am getting this card for just $21 NZC. I am not a music freak guy.
I'm not using anything that great either, but C-Media stuff is fine as long as you've got a software equalizer or are running it to something with an equalizer.
I am facing some trouble while installing this card.......I mean not the software problem, problem with the output. Let me tell you what I have at the moment.... 1 Aiwa streo system, 1 2.1 Creative multimedia speakers. How I am managing it..... Aiwa system on the Rear Port, from 2.1; 2 speakers on the front port(these are working without any amplifiers, direct from the sound card) and woofer for the bass output. There is no speaker for the centre. Here is my problem; 1. If I put those creative speakers in the rear port, they dont work. (Does it means that rear port requires amplifier?) 2. Voice which is coming out from the creative speakers and woofer is very low. 3. Which speaker I can buy for the centre speaker? The port for the Centre requires some kind of screw, any idea which screw is this? Edit: Here is the official website of C Media with my [link=http://www.cmedia.com/?q=en/PCI/CMI8738]card details[/link].
Because I dont want the easiest way:swear: I like doing all this shit. I know that I can end up spending more money with this but I will get personal satisfaction. Other factor is, what will I do with those music creatures which I have got now? Edit: Matt might give me some ideas on this as he told me that he has done course on audio something:beer:
