command prompt commands

    win2k pro... Is there a command that lets you send messages across a network?! Need... :angry: :stag: :alarm: :tport:

    type in "net send * this is the message"

    * sends it to all the computers on the network, so you can change it to ip etc

    I have tried this, and it worked at my office, but it would not work at my home between two computers. I have them set up on the network, they just wont message to eachother. adivice?

    By default, Windows XP disables the Messaging service, which is required for the 'net send' command.

    Click 'Start' > Right-click 'My Computer' > Choose 'Manage'

    On the left hand side, expand ' Services'. Scroll down the list on the right hand side until you see 'Messenger'. Double click it, choose 'Enable' and select 'Automatic' from the drop down list
