My fiance has a Compaq laptop that's encountering a weird stuttering lately. For example, when viewing a video or playing audio, the clip skips frames and stutters. This even happens during startup when playing the windows music. She's running winxp pro. It seemed to happen after she installed a sims2 expansion, but even uninstalling that didn't fix it. I've run avg and everything's clean. I think it may be a hardware issue. Any theories?
Task manager shows nothing eating up cpu or memory. It doesn't just do it from the cd. It does it from the hdd as well. Any time there's audio or video playback, there's a lot of stuttering. Are there any good pc utilities to see if her proc is running hot? i browsed around for a little while and couldn't find any. this is the third problem she's had with it in a little over a year. I wouldn't recommend these compaqs.
try disabling the video acceleration from the media player may help or thre may be trojan on the pc check for it
