Ok...so i really didn't know which area to post this..so...

recently i got a power shortage at my home and after wards the windows was being slowish...
    Iam using windows XP
so i thought this happened before i was going to reinstall the windows and every thing...
but i thought first i should clean my Case and its..components because it was very dusty...the fan sounded like a dinosaur
so after cleaning , i hooked pc and started...the pc was running more smoothly thanks to the cleaning..but after like 15-20min of running the pc and opening windows and every thing..my PC completely shut off...like didnt even restart , just...shut off
so i opened it again....it didnt even reach the windows loading screen and it shut off again...
so i tried to check if something isnt put correctly...or any thing...but every thing is good to go...
but now some times i start it...it doesnt even take 10 sec and it completely shuts off again...
i thought...maybe its from rams or videocard or something....
So..i tested my rams but they all work fine....+ i never experinced a problem where the rams crash my pc before it even reaches the windows loading...
iam pretty sure its not video card issue too cuse no matter what Screen i open...wether its safemood for windows...or...just that 1st screen with all those grey text before it jumps to windows loading , it also crashes....so iam stuck x.x i don't know what might be causing the issue....

    Note :
While cleaning i only Removed my video card , the rams , the harddrive and my fan
i also didnt use any tools while cleaning i just blew the dust out...

oh also...if i leave my PC for like a long time without starting...it can reach windows and opens the windows...then before my windows can even load msn , it crashes...
and then when i try to open it again...it just crashes a little bit before (like right before the loading screen for windows)
then if i start it a 3rd time , it doesnt even take 5 seconds to crash...

does any one know what might be the issue x.x? cuse i made sure nothing is removed or looks bad or any thing....

..Sorry for the Text wall , and sorry if my english is a bit....bad =x

    and thanks in advance

    Hi,

If you have not done so already, I would try running Memtest86+ for a few hours to see if it returns any errors. If it does, it means one of your sticks of Ram is giving errors. If that does not work, I would try doing a minimal boot. Try booting with just the cpu (and its fan), 1 stick of ram, video, and hard drive with nothing else to see if you can boot up and it stays on. If it does stay on, reattach the rest of the equipment one device at a time to see where it fails. If it doesnt work, swap out the stick of ram, also change ram slots it is in so you can rule out a ram stick or ram slot as the problem. Try using a different video card if possible as well as try onboard video if your mother board has it. Disconnect the hard drive and see if the computer will boot and stay on as well. Something else you could try too is to disconnect harddrive and connect cd rom, then boot to your windows cd to see if the power still cuts out (to rule out hard drive/os causing the problem. If that doesnt work still, the problem has to be either power supply, motherboard, or processor. I would try a different power supply next, especially where you said you had a power surge. If that doesnt resolve, you would want to look at next replacing the motherboard, then lastly the cpu. You can also try taking the motherboard out of the computer and placing it on a piece of cardboard and try booting that way, in case it is getting a short somehow in the computer case. You could also try unplugging the power supply and then holding down the power button on the computer to see if there is an excess charge built up on the board. Hold power button down for 10-20 seconds to discharge the board, you may also want to take out the cmos battery as well and try again if it doesnt help (note that this will reset your bios to default settings).

didn't realize this was answered but as i was reading i was thinking it was either a bios change or a dieing power supply
