i have recently built a computer for a guy and i never tested its music and dvd video reading now he says when he puts his XP disc in the auto run kicks on and same with his game tiberium wars..... but when he puts in a Music Cd it freezes same with the DVD video... now here are the specs Asrock AlivenF6-VSTA Socket AM2 with SATA II (Newegg)WD 160 GB Sata II hard drive (newegg)Lite-on LH-16A1S-15 SATA DVD±R DL AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ (not overclocked) 1 GB i think Memory pro it said PQI too now when i built the system i had to put the DVD drive on the 4 sata port on the board because it kept blue Screening on port 2 the hard drive is on port 1 i had him switch the DVD Drive to port 3 no luck still freezes... now the cable linking the DVD drive is a Link Depot SATA-L1.0-UVG found on newegg at:Newegg.com - Link Depot 39" UV Green Latch Serial ATA Cable Model SATA-L1.0-UVG - Retail Operating System is of course Windows XP anymore details needed? thanks
What power supply is he using and does he have all connections on the motherboard plugged in? What message does the BSOD give? If you can't see it when it runs, check the event logs to see what comes up.
no he was bsod when i built it cuz for some reason it did not want to be on port 2 but bsod is not the problem i thoght the blue screed info might help the info so no it is not bsoding and yes his PSU is all plugged in
