I have a friend who spilt water on his laptop. It wont turn on now it did for a bit but wont now. He has a paper on his computers hard drive he needs off for school. What is the best way to get that off the hardrive. He has another laptop that belongs to his wife, can he swap the hard drives? I would think there would be a drivers issue and the hard drive would not boot. Can he pull the hard drive from the broken laptop and get it onto a external hard drive? i used to swap desktop hard drives, but i think they were the same brand. Its been a bit since i messed with hardware and im not sure what to tell him. He has to turn the paper in for a final...... thanks everyone in advance

    Thanks
    Bob

you can't put that HDD into another computer and try to boot. It probably will not, just as you suspected.

But what you can do is, you can tell him, that he should search for a interface - IDE>USB; Take a . I think it sums up all I wanted to say in my gibberish there.
