    Hey guys
my computer seems to have problems staying in a working condition after being left ( to go into Visions of War screensaver mode ) for long amounts of time .
I turn off pretty much all peripherals before leaving the room and maybe an hour later i get something like this .
"error 0xc000000142 vsmon.exe ( or sometimes other applications ) had a problem yadayada yada yadadada "
after trying to press ok and what not , i am forced to do a hard restart by pressing the power button for some time . This happened only recently but it has a rather .... 'bad' frequency you might say . I am in the habit of leaving things on ( programs , websites , downloads ) while i do this and it's 'VERY' annoying when something like this happens . If it helps , i only recently upgraded my ADSL line . I also have zonealarm sec. suite ( which makes for the vsmon.exe stuff ) and this can even sometimes lead to ... you know it ... the BLUE SCREEN OF CHUCKY !! .. err ... DEATH !

    Any fixes ?

    Thanks .

vsmon.exe is a type of virus, you can see on [link=http://searchg.symantec.com/search?q=vsmon.exe&context=hho&src=hho&output=xml_no_dtd&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&client=symc_en_US&proxystylesheet=symc_en_US&site=symc_en_US]Symantic's Website[/link]

I've found one solution on the net [link=http://www.file.net/process/vsmon.exe.html]here[/link] but not completely sure about it.
You should run antivirus and adware program first before going through any of this process. Downoad Avast Home edition adn Adware se Personal for free. Run both the softwares in Safe mode because this virus runs when windows starts but in safe mode only limited number of drivers run.
There are some people says its a part of free Zone Alarm Firewall but I am not sure in this one as well.

some times its easyer to just find the file and delete it but somethings it spawns new ones or your not able to delete it but u could allways just use the anti virus

i have gotton ride of many viruses just by finding them then deleting them u can search on your computer for the file name or most of the time they are in your windows folder or windows/system folder but they can be anywhere

well it seems i can avoid the problem by going into fast user-switching mode .
the problem still persists and i have deleted the 2nd vsmon.exe . this also happens with other applications . for example game.dat ( for generals and lotr bfme 2 ) .
    Any other thoughts ?
PS : i have been modifying my registry with cleaners and such for some time now . i have some blank entries in my msconfig startup thing . anyone know what those are for ?

    Thanks .

Run AV and adware software to clean all the viruses....If you dont have one then there are some free AV's available and good as well...I would suggest you to go through [link=http://www.hardwareforums.com/windows-xp-security-guide-9738/]Windows XP Security Guide[/link] because it will give you the source/information for free security software links and will tell you many more things..
