Hi, I've got this computer for a few months. It's been operating normally but occasionally makes some very strange rattling sound. It's hard to describe, but it's not that loud and sounds like something is vibrating inside. I can't seem to find the association with the sound. Sometimes it happens even before I turn on the computer (but the power is already on). The sound seems to be from somewhere near the harddrive. Whether the computer is working under high load or not doesn't seem relevant. It starts and stops any time. Sometimes it happens when I rest my arms on the desk, and stops when I get them out. My desk is quite steady, so pushing on it doesn't cause any *visible* movement of the surface. Actually if I hadn't heard the sound going on and off, I wouldn't have known I changed the surface somehow. Have any of you experienced this problem? What is that? Is it dangerous? Many thanks.
I have experienced this kind of thing - and still am, actually. At times - and it too seems to come from around the hard drive - hear a one-time sound. Like something hits against something or like a wire touches the blades of a case fan for just a moment. Like a big TICK or CLICK or CLACK or something. I don't know what that is, but it just happens. I haven't seen anything bad happening and it takes place on quite random occasions. The case guts are quite crowded, but everythings fixed so those are not the wires. Maybe the HDD is slowly nearing its end. I don't really know. The verdict: I experience similar stuff, but have no clue as to how to repeat it or solve it.
When u say it is near harddrive, sometimes it is inside the hardisk but that is too low and the one u say is seems bit louder. Please take ur backup unless u might lost it. Regards
