    Hi everyone,
I've been seeking advice in this area for a while and i finially decided to post. At the moment my setup is this, i have a digital out from my motherboard, which i use and connect that to my amplifier, which is a Yamaha RX-V530. I have 5.1 setup, where the speakers connect to the amp, obviously. I was thinking of buying a "CREATIVE SOUND BLASTER X-FI PLATINUM PCI SOUND CARD". I'm wondering, if i connect my amp to the jack via the digital out on the jack, will i recieve better sound quality (seeing as usually a dedicated sound controller usually always is better than onboard)? I am also wondering if this is best option considering my situation. Any help will be very appreciated. I am very inexpirienced in this sort of area, i apolagize if i have said anything stupid.

I would think not. The audio solutions today are fine for listening for most people (assuming you have some decent speakers). I'm no audio expert, but it would seem to me that running the audio through an amp/reciever would have the reciever as the final say to the audio.

Using the digital out bypasses the analog connections on the card or on-board jacks, and I *think* (don't quote me) that bypasses the DSP (if any) on the card---if it's using a hardware DSP.

So, to answer the question in short, I don't think you'd hear a difference.

Hmm, but from my mild expirience, if even the "signal" comming from the card is "better quality" wouldnt it be better recieved through the amp and therefor better quality? Ive only ever gone from direct sound card to amp and ive always noticed a difference compared to onboard ect, but ive never tried with the jack and its digital audio out.. Thanks for the info i'll research some more. But if anyone else as info i'd be glad to hear it xD
