Hi, I thought it was time to upgrade my computer again, not only a new gpu, but about everything, 'cept for RAM(8GB DDR3), CD-ROM and HDD(Although, in addition to the 500GB, I added a 1TB to it as well!) Now, the thing that initally had me confused, was the CPU, as I was not too sure about the 2600k module and the other i7 structures, but that's the one I ended up picking... Also, I'm a tad bit confused considering the SLI and soundcard matter; as the soundcard uses 1 PCI-e spot, and I have two NVIDA GPU's, would it still have a rather satisfactory result, or would I have to pick a new MOBO with support of additional PCI-e? No idea if it uses x16 or whatever it is. Here's the list of upgrades: Intel® Core™ i7-2600K Processor Socket-LGA1155, Quad Core, 3.4Ghz, 8MB, 95W, Boxed w/fan Creative X-FI Titanium Fatal1ty Champion PCI Express x1, lydkort Gigabyte GeForce GTX 580 1536MB PhysX PCI-Express 2.0, GDDR5, 2xDVI, HDMI, Windforce 3X, 795MHz (x2) MSI P67A-GD65 B3, Socket-1155 ATX, P67, DDR3, 2xPCIe(2.0)x16, SLI/CFX, SATA 6Gb/s, USB3.0, eSATA, FW, THX, EFI Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB 7200RPM, SATA 3.0 Gbps, 3,5", 32MB Cache, 8.9ms Corsair HX 1050W PSU ATX 12V V2.2, 80 Plus Silver, Modular, 6x 6+2-pin PCIe, 12x SATA, 140mm Vifte Note: Vifte = Fan, lydkort = soundcard. Now for the misc specs: Windows 7, OEM Logitech G35 Gaming headset 7.1 surround sound powered by dolby Cooler Master HAF 922 Midi Tower Sort Vifter: 1x 200mm Front, 1x 200mm Topp, 1x 120mm Bak, Rød LEDs, Card Reader BenQ 24" LCD G2420HD 1920x1080, 40000:1, 2ms, VGA/DVI/HDMI (x3) If you have any suggestions; or if this build would result in an erroneous scenario, please enlighten me on the matter, thanks - Inam
Hi, The soundcard uses a pci express 1x slot which is different from the pci express slot that the video cards use. The stats on this motherboard say they have 3 of the 1x slots and 2 of the 16x slots (for the video cards). So there should be plenty of slots for each. They only thing I would wonder about though, is will they all fit... the reason I say that is I bought an evga 790i board a while ago and ran 2 8800gtx cards on it in sli, and wanted to also run a pcie 1x sound card as well. The problem is, once the video cards were installed, there was no room for the sound card on the board because the video cards were in the way. The configuration of the ports looks similar to the board you are looking at now. You may want to read some reviews to see if anyone has had a problem with the board in regards to this before you buy the sound card.
