Hi I'd like to know whether my CORSAIR Dominator TWIN2X2048-9136C5D can go up to 1333MHz or not... according to this ASUS Motherboards Support FSB1333 it can... Now my question is, how stable can that be?
Thats just plain lazy! Google CORSAIR Dominator TWIN2X2048-9136C5D If your on about overclocking it then you'll just have to try it. You can make ram unstable relatively easily by overclocking. Do you have a cpu with a 1333mhz FSB? If not its an overclock again. Its like me asking you what colour my next door neighbours' hair is.... probably brown but who knows!
Yeah I've gone through google... I'm not stupid you know... that's why I ask it here... Let me give you the whole thing: I've ordered an Intel Core 2 Quad QX6700 (4x 2.67GHz, 8MB L2 Cache) 1066MHz FSB, an asus P5W-DH Deluxe and 2GB CORSAIR Dominator TWIN2X2048-9136C5D... Now I'd like to know whether: 1. I can safely overclock my cpu to a higher frequency and a higher FSB (I know I’m gonna have to change my cooling system.) 2. Overclock the ram to 1333MHz to get the same as the cpu... According to asus it’s possible to safely overclock the ram to 1333MHz especially my high end ram that has a stock speed of 1142MHz. I’d like to be sure that I won’t burn anything doing that… I’m only a noob in overclocking, so I’d appreciate help.
Outside of OCZ's FlexXLC PC-9200 stuff, that Corsair is about the highest clocked stuff. Unfortunately, there's no guarantee that it will work at 1333MHz. However, remember that the FSB on the Core 2's is quad-pumped, so the RAM needs to do 333MHz to work at that speed. (1333/4)
Ive had a better look and Corsair say they will get to 1200mhz. Thats going to be a conservative figure but other people have got around 1250mhz. Many thought that were held back by thier motherboard but who knows. All the ones I looked at were 1066mhz motherboards. One point to remember is that although your mother can support 1333mhz FSB everything between 1066mhz and 1333mhz is an overclock and your motherboard might experience the problem other people have had. If the ram can reach 1333mhz then the motherboard will drop the buses back to default and keep the FSB at 1333mhz. Like I said earlier you've just gotta try it. It might make it, its less than a 20% overclock which is possible. I dont know if the ram is stuff overclocked by corsair to a safe level.
yeah it is certified safe... But I think I'll keep the default 1142Mhz freq as I don't want to void the warranty, I'll do it when the warranty is finished. Same goes for the CPU, unless they can't find out whether I've overclocked or not...
