Could incompatible RAM cause the problem?

I have a PC fitted with a ConRoe945G-DVI Motherboard and an Intel Pentium D 925 (3.00Ghz) processor installed and Win XP. The system has been giving me constant problems with random blue screens and various exe files that are reported to be corrupt or refuse to execute. Since I formatted the system with a fresh OS several times to no avail I am assuming that a hardware problem exists.

I first used Memtest to test the RAM but no errors where yielded. Then I tried to swap the ram with a new one of the same type and again no progress...

Yesterday I noted that the RAM installed on the motherboard is a 1Gig DDR2-400. After flipping through the motherboard manual (http://download.asrock.com/manual/ConRoe945G-DVI.pdf) I found out that the ConRoe945G-DVI "Supports DDRII667/533". Since the installed RAM is not of this type do you think that the DDR2-400 might be causing the problem or should I look elsewhere?

Thanks for your help in advance,

    Andre`
