I'm having trouble installing software on my win2000 sp4 o/s.
I dont know too much and am in dire need of installation access.

2 errors seem to come up often when installing:

-1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime.
    and
    -Advpack.dll

For the "1607..." error I googled and followed this sites troubleshooting procedures http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108340

My best guess is there is holes in our registry via cleaners n such.

I cannot totally re-install windows as I do not have the disks.

    Is there any hope?

    Thx Much,
    Dano

Thx very much guys....but the problem persists. I have already done troubleshooting via that site you provided; it's in my first query.
In regard to the advpack.dll problem.
I ran that regsvr32... and I got the error:

"advpack.dll was loaded, but the dllregisterserver entry point was not found.
dllregisterderver may not be exported, or a corrupt version of advpack.dll may be in memory. Consider using Pview to detect and remove it."

I tried to run "Pview" and "Pviewer" via the cmd prompt...no dice.

Also, in my C drive there is no "system32" file....only "twain32".

    Any ideas?

    Thanks again,
    Dano
