I have a Pentium D 925 (I'm aware that they have heat issues) with the stock intel heatsink. at idle it gets to about 95F and under load at max about 135. I'm seeing temp spikes any time my processor utilization gets to 20% or so. Ive applied and reapplied thermal paste several times, each time cleaning both the heat spreader on the processor and the heatsink thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol, and then going back with a clean cloth to wipe up any residue. I made sure i didnt use too much each time and also did not lift up the heatsink after first setting it on the cpu to avoid air pockets in the thermal paste. i cant even run simple 3d games without it getting to 130F, and im not talking about anything complex. this thing is irritating me but its my workhorse and im trying to take care of it.
