CPU Is maxed out at 100% with dual core coming out im thinking about updating my processor and ram of my laptop.i dont get it i go on task manager and look at cpu and memory.theres 98000 memory bien used and 200 cpu.were is the 98000 memory bien taken from?my ram?if so i have enough ram for what i need but it still slows up,would that mean i need a processor with a higher cache so there are more lanes to let the backlog pass through?and were is the 200 cpu bien taken from?im trying to understand y my computer slows up and how i can sove the problem.can i also ask i brought my laptop b4 i had any real knowladge about computers.it cost me 899 and it has 20 gb hard drive 256 ram 2.8ghz 1mb l2 cache.do u think i payd to much for it?thanks
Dual cores are out. As for the price, that depends on when you bought it. Now that's a rip off, but back 5-6 years ago, that wouldn't have been an unreasonable price. Upping the RAM to 512MB or 1GB would certainly help. Another thing that can make a huge difference is the hard drive. Laptop hard drives have traditionally run at 4200RPM, whereas desktops are almost all 7200RPM these days. Laptops are migrating to 5400RPM as more of a standard, with a few high-end gaming units sporting 7200RPM. In task manager, see what process(es) is taking up the CPU's time. That can help. Also, if you haven't snag a spyware scanner like [google]Spybot Search & Destroy[/google]. Spyware can do that, as well as viruses and other malware. Your CPU upgrade would depend on the motherboard support and what the cooling system can handle. Unlike desktops, laptops tend to be much more proprietary, so your flexibility is pretty limited.
