First of all, hi everyone! Paul here in need of assistance!

I have win xp pro and have had my pc for quite a while now with no major problems, any problems i have had ive fixed with no hassle, however now im a bit stuck.

First of all when running certain programs, i.e. hitman pro, my monitor keeps flicking on and off as if it were refreshing, at the same time a little box pops up in the taskbar which looks like a dos box, it comes up then goes, then comes and goes etc. Very frustrating as the monitor goes mad at the same time.

Secondly im having problems running certain games. I just downloaded the demo of toca race driver 3, but everytime it starts up in a little box i get this:

Thirdly, and a problem that will probably require re-installing or using windows disk, is a long black screen on boot. Usually the first screen with the specs comes on and is gone quick as lightning, now it stays for bout 20-30 secs, then once the windows logo has finished loading the black screen comes on for 1-2 mins, which ive never seen before, usually it goes staright to desktop.

Any advice and help would be much appreciated, thanks.

    Welcome to hardwareforums gunnapaul2!

I think your quite right, sounds like time for a complete re-install! :)

When i was running windows i re-installed it monthly, the longer you have windows installed the longer it seems to do anything!

I think there is something wrong with your graphics driver. Maybe installing a newer version.

    Totally agreed :D

Graphics driver already updated, no difference made sadly.

Is there any way to re-install windows without formatting diskdrive?

My current thoughts are transfer all files/programs/drivers over to my secondry hard drive so i dnt have to reinstall a load of stuff. Either that or burn it all to dvds so i can format both drives.

    cheers!

Yeah it would be wise to burn everything on DVDs or put it on an external harddrive. Windows is the only OS that makes trouble if not installed on an unformatted harddrive (programs not launching and freezing).
