    Hi,

I am trying to solve an ongoing ground loop problem. I want to cut power (and possibly shield) from an internal-to-external firewire 6-pin 1394 cable that plugs into my Presonus Firebox audio interface and use the interface's external power adapter instead of the interface being powered through the cable.

Here is the wiring assignment for the firewire cable. Which wires should I cut? (I don't want to spend the money on an adapter.)

1394 Firewire Internal 6-Pin Male to External 6-Pin Female Port [1394-2INT-PORT] : Performance-PCs.com, ... sleeve it and they will come

    Please help!

I wouldn't go there if I were you. How expensive is that power adapter anyway?
