Has anyone played Dark Messiah of Might and Magic yet? I'm considering on buying it. Just wondering how the game plays, and looks.... Or is there a Trial out there i could possibly try? Thanks -Maniac
Hey, Not sure if there is a trial version/demo for DM:MM, but I have seen the HD trailers and game play trailers - and the game looks unbelievable!! It is definitely one to get. This is especially true if your into role playing games such as TES4: Oblivion. However, there is only one small problem with DD:MM, it's specs... i am not totally sure what they are, but they are pretty damn high. In fact, here is a link to the specs: Ubisoft Store - Dark Messiah Might & Magicâ„¢: - PC DVD-ROM Just make sure you meet at least half of these specs in recommended to have somewhat of a decent gaming experience.
I have a quick new update for you all about dark messiah might and magic... i was actually very disappointed to read this... i think i MAY still buy the game, however, i am not sure any more after reading this review. I think Gamespot was pretty harsh on this one and you can see that most people who bought it thought differently. I can imagine the combat feels a bit repetitive at times but it's not like Oblivion or anything had much depth and gamespot seemed to really enjoy the combat in that game. Graphically it really impresses, I don't see what they were thinking with the 7 out of 10, taking off points for a few odd physics behaviors is kind of odd. Granted I haven't played it and perhaps the glitches make it frustrating but it seems like a game I'd really enjoy.
I know what you mean, I think i'll still buy it... but the main thing with it was not only combat but the crap storyline - oblivion had a brilliant and really fun storyline, granted that combat wasn't the best thing ever, but it sat well with the game.
OK i've looked at the Spec. and with what I current have: AMD 3700+ 7900Gt's in SLI 2GB will I be able to run the game.... -Maniac
Completely, the source engine isn't terribly demanding to begin with and your system far exceeds the recomended specs in the graphics and ram department especially.
Not exactly, HL2 is a little less demanding as they're been no modifications to the engine. Dark Messiah has it's store of tweaks and upgrades so while it's the same engine it has higher requirements and a machine that can run HL2 on full might not necessarily be able to max Messiah. So if it's a stuggle to max HL2 for whatever reason Messiah will probably run worse but if it's no big deal to crank the settings and you're getting a good fps then don't worry about it.
Wow, ok kl, i get u... well, i dunno if i am gonna get DM as of yet... maybe wait till the price drops? not sure tho.
There IS a demo... 600MB or so big. It's fun if you like that kind of thing, but it's not much of an RPG... More like a cross between Half-Life and Diablo...
Well is it anything like the Heroes series of games, i still really enjoy them and especially heroes of might and magic 4.
Isn't that like turnbased RPG stuff? If so then it's nothing like that. Dark Messiah takes place from a first person perspective and you are essentually a jack of all trades. You can use you're sword, bow, steathy daggers, foot, or magic to dispatch the many foes you'll encounter. There's a lot of enviromental interaction so you'll kick guys into spikes and off cliffs and the like and boss battles will involve some physics bases actions to defeat them. It's basically a hack and slash with a bit of depth but thrown into a FPS's clothing.
Yeah i commented without first looking at the screens of the game, it looks pretty decent but i don't think my spec would even load the menu I have enough trouble trying to get oblivion to run at anything above the minimum requirements.
Oblivion is going to be a lot more demanding dude, I belive those requirements are intended to be a reference for those wishing to play the game with things cranked up pretty far. What are your specs though?
748 athlon 64 2.2ghz, 6600gt, 1gb corsair ram, 550w psu, there the basics anyway. I just went into Game in York and had a good chuckle to myself when i read the specs. If i remember right it wanted a 2.6ghz processor min. you know its nearly time to upgrade when the latest game wont run on yr pc.
By 2.6GHz that's refering to an Intel Pentium 4 or celeron Processor. The AMD equivilant would be about a 3.5GHz or so Pentium which far exceeds those requirments. The 3500 rating for example refers to the early days when AMD compaired it's processors to it's early Thunderbird models that went head to head with Intel. The odd thing is the rating has remained pretty accurate for equivilancy on both fronts. In other words you're fine the 6600GT isn't killer naturally but it's perfectly serviceable and should run the game on at least medium/highish settings, just maybe at a more modest resolution with no AA.
