Hi! I have a Philips DVDR writer which burns DVD’s no problem but what I’m trying to do is put some data files onto DVD discs, the problem is it keeps asking me to insert a CD and I want it on DVD, anyone any idea why it only wants to copy to CD.

It looks like you are trying to use the windows method to burn your dvd, I believe windows only provides support for burning regular recordable cd's not for DVD's

You should try a different program for that like Nero 6, or use the DVD-burning software that came with your computer or DVD burner if available.

Yes, I have Nero 6.0 and it certainly has the option to burn data DVDs (just looked), although I haven't tried it out.
