Hi all, I need to get data off a 2.5" IBM Travelstar IDE hdd from a laptop that blue screened to a 3.5" hdd. The desktop has 2 hard drives in it. A Seagate (master, jumpered) and a Maxtor (slave, not jumpered). I attached the 2.5 to the 2.5/3.5 adapter, and then the adapter to the Maxtor's IDE cable, and power. Did it 3 ways: unjumpered, jumpered as slave and jumpered as cable select. All three with the same results: "unknown device" for both Pri drive 0 and Pri drive 1 in the BIOS, boot order is correct-HDD/CD-ROM. I tried it with a known good HDD with the same results. Does this mean the IBM is a paper weight? And/or I messed up the known good hdd? Ive used this same Dimension 4300 to do this before with a different 2.5, and it worked. Any help would be appreciated! :stars:
