hi, i recently aquired a computer and the only thing it will do is show a biosboot block page when starting. from what i've read the bios is shot. does anyone out there have one of these boards: Azza 693btx??
i would greatly appreciate a copy of your bios if you could send it to me.

if i can't find one i will have to see if i can dig up a replacement for it. of all the parts in it i like the 40gig maxtor the most so it was worth the $5 i spent on it.

    thanks

You do realize that you'll need to be able to boot the PC to flash the BIOS, right? In your current state, I'd get in contact with the folks over @ BIOS Recovery and see what they can do for you. They should be able to fix you up for under $30. Unless you have an identical BIOS chip that you can hotflash on another working motherboard, those guys are pretty much your only option.

right now the bios on that board is in bootblock mode. it posts as:
    Award Bootblock bios v1.0

    Detecting floppy drive A media
    Drive media is: 1.44mb
and then it goes into starting windows 95 and then i get the old
    A:\>
and it is done. it won't run the awdflash that i just tried, too old (ver. 7.03) I guess
hopefully i can find someone to copy their bios for me so i can bring this one back.

i have also been playing around with hot flashing too. I found that you can flash a bios to a mother board that is for something else entirely. you just have to use the switches and force it to flash the bios program that you want on the chip.

It sounds more like the 95 install is hosed than the BIOS being borked. If your BIOS was shot, you'd be unable to boot period. I think all you need to do is wipe the drive and then install an OS.

that is all that the bios posts, the windows 95 is off of the boot disk that i use for formatting and fdisking drives. the hard drive and o/s are intact. the mother board won't do anything but try and start with a floppy, some of what i have read on it is it is a failsafe that some award bios have that function when a bios update goes bad or a virus corrupts the bios and its function is to give you a second shot at repairing or reprogramming the bios.

if you didn't get a post you wouldn't get video
you have to use a bios made for your specific board model, can't just plop any bios in.
have you reinstalled the os after swapping motherboard?

I haven't as yet swapped motherboards. if i pull out the agp card and put in a pci card it gives the beep code of no video. when i replaced the 4meg pci card with an old 1meg pci it beeps no video and if i hit the reset button it will post as listed before.
    "Award Bootblock bios v1.0

    Detecting floppy drive A media
PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND HIT ENTER"
that is what it posts no matter what i do, that is of course i insert a boot disk. use the clear cmos jumper, same thing. remove the battery and clear the cmos, same thing.
it will not post more than what is listed up above.

one of the guys at the local computer store said that it probably posts with the agp because agp is a dedicated slot for video. it also posts every time with an old isa card. so the bios is screwwwwed. it is salvageable if i can find someone with the SAME board that is willing to send me a copy of their bios.
i have called the people at bios recovery and $59.95 is their asking price, have since recieved an email stating that they will offer me the discounted price of $29.95 to download their latest and greatest bios. I can go and buy a brand new board for that price and have my pick of companies that are still around, seeing as azza is dead.

NINJA FETUS, i have not tried to flash just any bios to it, i would like to save the board if i can if not, scrap pile.

i have several old motherboards that i have been playing with hot swapping the bios, i have even used an old board to flash a boot rom bios for a nic so that it would boot off the network. have since replaced the bios on that board off one that was scrapped, flashed the right bios to it and installed and it works fine. too bad that it is just a pentium though.
i am also in the process of building a bios burner.

ok i found someone with the same computer as i have, problem is they don't have a floppy in their computer, is there anyway to boot windows xp in dos mode and run awdflash and save the bios code to the hard drive?? if it does boot into dos mode, is it pure dos without any memory managers??
