Ok, I have a PCCHIPS M848A v5.0 Board and i had a Athlon XP 2700+ to go with it i tested it out of the case and it worked then i got it ready to put back in the case and i cleaned off the old thermal grease and applied new stuff well apparently somethin went wrong it fried that CPU, and i tested it out of the case again and, no go so i bought an AS-IS cpu 2400+ from ebay and straightened the pins and put it in there, No go switched out ram etc... no go, threw the fried cpu away cuz i could tell it was dead. i thought i saw a case screw on the board... could it have fried the board? i cant remember if i turned it on while the screw was there. anyway i just bidded on a 2700 AS-IS processor and should i put it in this board? btw the 2400+ does not get hot while the board is running. and ever since the 2700+ got fried i have been testing it out of case so any help?
LOL...I thought I replied to this, but I guess not. Match up the holes with the mounting studs and go from there. If there was anything creating a flow from the motherboard to the case or where it wasn't supposed to go, it can things.
