    Hi everyone,

    Wondering how this system:

    Dell XPS 630
    Intel Core2 processor Q6600 (2.40Ghz,1066FSB) w/Quad Core Technology and 8MB cache
    3GB DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz (not Corsair)
    Dual 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT
    160gb WD Raptor
    Integrated 7.1 audio

Will compare to my current 2.5 year old machine:

    Dell XPS Gen 5
    Pentium D 840 (3.2Ghz, 800FSB)
    2GB SDRAM at 800Mhz
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB OC
    160gb WD Raptor
    SB Fata1ity Extreme Gamer

Uses: Casual single-player gaming (Crysis, Bioshock, HL2, COD, Second Life), image editing, some video work, standard 2D office apps.

The Gen 5 scored about 7,500 3DMARKs last I checked (3DMARK06). From what I've seen the 630 is 50% faster at least.

    Opinions please?

    Thanks in advance!

I definately don't recommend Dell... ever... I would recommend you build it yourself. If you aren't comfortable with building it yourself I guess a Dell would work fine.. I also don't see a real reason to upgrade as what you have now is just fine.. It's not top of the line but should be ok for single player experiences..
