Right my mate is building a new AMD sys and he has got a quote for a DFI lanparty NF4 SLI and he wants to know what i think. I think that you guyz will know better. So what do you think of this board. Are there any better boards that are in the same sort of price bracket that perform better. Thanx
DFI are a good manufacturer, but their tweaking options can be a little bit daunting for the average user. I don't have any experience with it, but NF4 is a good chipset with excellent performance its a pretty popular board. You also might want to consider the Asus A8N SLI Deluxe.
It is a fantastic board, no doubt one of the best boards out at the moment, it is pricey, the reason for this is that DFI's current Nforce 4 Product line is incredibly stable and are fantastic overclockers. So if your friend is looking for great stability in the overclocking world and is intending on doing some good overclocking then go for it. However if he is an average user, or just someone who wants to have a good gaming board with SLI compatibility i would go with the AN8 SLI by ASUS (as Addis mentioned). It will do exactly the same, and actually isn't a bad overclocker, very stable & of great build quality i would go for this ASUS board, and also it's about £70 ($100 cheaper i believe)
I've got the Ultra version of that board, and basically, if you're looking for a board that you can tweak the hell out of, the NF4 LanParty boards are the best you can get. Epox (not recommended) and Abit come closest, but can't top DFI. If you're intrested in heavy overclocking, again, DFI is your best bet, due to the insane voltages it supports by default (4V on the RAM!). However, if you just want a board to drop in and go, then the Asus A8N-SLI would be a better choice. DFI makes no bones at all who they cater to: the enthusiast. On one hand, that's great, however, if you're not looking for that much pizzaz, the LanParty boards are probably overkill.
Yeah i read that its awsome for oc, but this guy is an enthusiastic gamer but not much more when it comes to the technical side of things. Thanx for all the info and ill look into that asus for him. Buy the way he is getting this board for R750 (divide by 6.5 to rands) $115. is this a good price.
