I am on broadband and every time I start the PC a dial up connection asking to connect comes up, I cancel it and it pops up once more. I don't need this. Any ideas on how to get rid of it?

Might not be the best remedy....

This sounds like a dial-up request from one of your programs.
A lot of programs have the 'Check for updates on start-up' and 'Start program of windows start-up' enabled. Which means the specific program might laod with windows and immidiatley try to connect to the internet to check for updates.

This could also be some spyware at work, trying to connect you to the internet so you can get some more rubbish into your PC. Especialy if a dial-up connection has been set-up without you knowing of it.
Deleting the dialup connection can result in a program delaying Windows start-up as it is waiting for updates.

My suggestion would be, even if you already taken Addis's advice, check your pc for viri and/or spyware. If you do not find anything, try looking in your programs' settings, to see if such options are enabled, and disable the automatic updates.

    Good luck.....

if you are using internet explorer then go to tools > internet options > connections and check never dial a connection radio button.

it is something simillar in firefox. in there you will find use direct line.

or if this will not solve your problem then go to start > settings > network connections and in network connections click advanced > dail up preferences. click on disable autodail when I am logged in~!

I think this will solve your problem.
