Display problems

Hi all, this may seem like a relativley unimportant problem, but it is doin my head in! I have just had to format my C: drive, i have reinstalled xp, set up all my drivers and all that malarkey, but i cannot seem to change my display settings. Whether i got to control panel and select display, ir if i right click on the desktop and click on properties, its the same result....nothing. The working symbol on the mouse aprears for a couple of seconds, but then it fails to initialise. I have uninstalled my graphics card drivers and tried to adjust the settings with no results and have reinstalled them again and tried, yet again with the same results! Please help as i am trapped using 800x600 resolution and it is terrible! :swt:
 
What Card do you have?

Try Reinstalling the latest driver again.

Is it pushed in all the way in the mobo?

All wired up correctly?

If all that is ok, then your card could have gone bust.
 
I have a nvidia FX5200 card. I have accessed my refresh rate from my graphics card settings tab and this does not help in any way!
 
Can you play games? If you can, then your card hasn't blown, which is good.

Faulty monitor, perhaps?
 
You did install the drivers for your motherboard (or more accurately the chipset drivers for the motherboard), right?
