I've got a bit of a problem, I've got a Packard Bell desktop computer with the following specs:

    3GB RAM
    N Vidia Zotac 9800Gt
    Intel Pentium D
    500GB HDD
    720W Atrix PSU
    Windows 7 Home Premium

Now the problem is every time I try to boot the computer it comes up with a black screen saying DMI pool data and I'll have to restart the computer endless amount of times just to get on to the log on screen and then randomly the computer freezes? I've tried wiping the whole OS, restoring etc etc nothing has worked. I tried the process of elimination by removing ram sticks and formatting the hard drive then installing a fresh copy of Windows 7, nothings worked. I thought it may be a over heating issue or something so I took the CPU fan out and reapplied some more thermal paste but that hasn't worked? I'm getting very frustrated is there any you guys can recommend? So right now I cannot get on the log on screen! I am slightly tight on money right now so I don't really want to go out and buy another Hard Drive.

Up to now, the computer has no OS as I just cannot be bothered anymore but I recently tried installing Windows 7 again but while Windows 7 was installing it froze?

Can anyone help me please :)

    Thanks!

You boot manager is corrupted, try removing the Bio's battery for 10 minutes, then reinstall windows...

This is a desktop right? Open the case and take a look inside for a round battery the size of Quarter .. What is the Model of Packard Bell ? Is it a Tower or a suite case ?

Thank you ever so much it's working for now, I don't know about long term but it seems like popping out that Motherboard battery has helped a lot. Think I'm going to have to purchase a new motherboard battery! Just wanted to ask my specifications right now are NVidia Zotax 9800GT 1GB GDDR3 RAM, I've got 3GB of ram, Intel Pentium D and a Atrix 720W PSU, what do you think about the PSU? People have been telling me it's not the best PSU, it's quite cheap etc? Is it possible to recommend a good PSU out there, I'm looking to upgrade to a quad core. My system is quite outdated compared to the ones you get these days! I've been playing Half Life 2 on my system for donkey years lol!

I never heard of that brand before, I would look at: Corsair / Antic/ OCZ / or Thrematake... Just make sure it has an 80% rating..
I don't think you can upgrade from a P4 D to a Quad core with changing your Motherboard..
