Hi
My Buffalo external HDD stopped working and does not power up any longer (neither with the original AC adapter nor with others). So I decided to open it up to try retrieving my data and it turned out to be a Toshiba DT01ACA100, a SATAIII type.
Now I would like to connect it to my laptop with a USB to SATA adapter but I am not sure what I need to do with the power, given that the original buffalo board attached to the HDD had to be powered with 5V DC.
Do I need to connect the Toshiba HDD also to power and if so how? Or will the power come from USB directly?
Thanks in advance for any advice
Teo
