I just discovered a strange slot on my travelmate 8204, just below the PCMCIA slot. The 1st pic shows the exact place on the laptop, and the 2nd pic shows the plastic placeholder, next to the PCMCIA placeholder to compare the size. Does anyone know what I can insert in this strange slot?

    The slot itself:

shouldn't the tech manual be able to answer this question?

but what the hell - I'll make a guess - maybe a missing card reader? :p

There is no information about this component in the manual.
Could be, but what kind of cards fit in there? I do have an SD card reader in the front.

I meant a card reader to be plugged in there (like one of those who are slim, but can read like 24 typed of cards).

what about acer.com? don't they have a seperate very technical manual there on some server among the driver (n other stuff) downloads?
