Does anyone recognise this problem crash and beep?

Hi to all,

I hope you can help, I have a new mesh PC, I also have a on site warranty but mesh refuse to come out because they say they can only come out if they know what the problem is! I don't want to send my PC back and be without a PC again for ages.

Anyway my problems is that when I play AOE3 online it sometimes (most times) the PC crashes after about 30 mins, it is totally frozen and I get a high pitched tone from the speakers and all I can do is manually reset machine. I have wiped C drive reinstalled all drivers in correct ordr re-installed game (twice now) and it still happens anyone know what this might be?

Heat issues occur when running high grafix applications. Some things that you might want to try would check your bios, look for devldr16.exe (comes with sound blaster cards) you would need to adjust something there but not quite sure what it is, or even check with the manufaturer of the system for BIOS updates. Easy thing to do is try leaving the case open when playing games for heat circulation. If it stops it then you know that this is the problem, then you can call them out to fix it.

I checked tempratures in the bios and they are all within limits, searched for that file and I do not seem to have it, I have a temp gauge on the front of the Pc and it never goes aboce 30 C, my problem with mesh now is that they say if the fault is with my software I will have to pay £65 plus VAT!!

Cheeky gits! Its one hell of an onsite warranty I must say, it takes 5 hours to get through on the phone:mad:
 
Thats a bit expensive. I think the sound your getting is an alarm. Check through the options available under CMOS Setup for virus scanning or thermal/heat sensor alarm.
If its enabled is has to be something to do with it overheating.

Here are some settings in my CMOS that might be causing the problem??

Q FAN CONTROLLER - DISABELED

CPU INTERNAL THERMAL CONTROL - AUTO

( SLI CONFIG) EZ PLUG WARNING - ENABALED

AC97 AUDIO - DISABELED

EXCECUTE DISABLED BIT - ENABELED

CPU FAN SPEED WARNING - 800RPM

does any of these some incorrect?
 
I used to get this problem, the computer just locks up and the speakers made this god awful sound that was probably close to a cat being strangled or something.

With my system it was caused by a bad PSU - Check your PSU make and model and post back. With my rig I got a new PSU (otherone was getting louder and louder by the day) and all was fine.

I'm no expert at all but my fan speed it running at an average of 4817 RPM. I would double check this setting.

The speed of a fan is dependant on the fan itself (what speed it was designed to run at - unless you have modded it to run at a higher/lower speed) so one fan may spin at 4000 RPM another at 2000 RPM, unless you're comparing 2 like models there's no real point comparing fan speeds. The only time I'd be worried is if your fan was spinning at less than 1500 RPM as this is fairly slow and most stock/generic fans will spin at much higher speeds.
 
Thanks guys, er I have 3 fans, and im not sure what make and model they are, there is nothing in the paper work that came with the PC I suppose ill have to open it and see, which fan am i looking at?

There are 2 at the back of the case and one with an exhaust over the CPU (Iassume its this one)

Look all the fans really, although the CPU fan is probably the stock Intel fan. Is there one on the motherboard as well? It might be good to make sure this one is working as that will be the one most likely cooling your Northbridge. In Dual Core Intel CPU's the cores communicate via the Northbridge, so if your northbridge is overheating you can get all sorts of problems with your system (with single core Intel CPU's, the northbridge plays a big role too so an overhating northbridge can affect the system a lot).
Download and install SpeedFan and post a screen shot of your PC if you can, if not then just report the temps it's giving to us.

You see I told you I wasn't an expert! Now you can narrow it down to it overheating and probably one of the fans, i'll let Matt555 take over as I have no idea what to do next! Hope this has been some help xx
 
We haven't established that it's overheating yet. That's why I gave the link to SpeedFan as after looking at that we can get an idea of temps. Also ceales could you post the temperature of your graphics card? You usually find this by view the nView program (or at least I do, I'm not sure with your card and system though...)
 
I have one fan on the mother board it is a sanyo denki, I have been to the sanyodenki site but its not very good and does not recognise my poart number I have attached a pic of speed fan results

fan 1 is at 2280 rpm

fan 2 and 3 are at 0
