Anyone know of any dual-cpu Athlon 64-bit boards out there?
Been looking online and can't find anything! I'm not looking for opteron or duron, just Athlon 64-bit board ... could you imagine? 2 64-bit processors at once?? SWEET! :good:

You'll have to go with Opteron 2xx series CPU's and a dual socket 940 motherboard if you want a 64-bit AMD-based rig. The HyperTransport links aren't on the A64's/A-FX's or Opteron 1xx CPU's. Also, Socket 939 isn't compatible with Socket 940 from what I understand.

If you want some more info to browse, hit up the forums over @ 2CPU. There's a bunch of great guys over there that are professionals in their field, not to mention mounds of info regarding SMP goodness.

I'd say that the single biggest benefit from dual opterons is large databases. DBs scream on 64-bit CPUs.
