DVD Audio cable

    Do I need the DVD/CD Audio cable that goes from the DVD Drive to the mobo?

    Sorry, noob question, but I didn't think about it.:doh:

    Nope I never use it, I only do volume changing in the CD playing application :).

    The audio cable is only required if you're running a pre-XP operationg system.

    If you're running WindowsXP, there's no need to use the seperate audio cable - your IDE cable will do the job.

    it's not "Pre XP", it's "Pre Me"

    audio CD's have played through IDE since Win Me, so no CD audio cable is required
