Hi my uncles works dvd drive is broken he says its not doing anything,

I have suggested that theres probably either no power going to it or its dead. Its a DELL computer. Thats all the info he's gave me, have any of you got any ideas what could be wrong with it?

EDIT: Im going to attempt to fix it tomorrow so some fast replies would be greatly appreciated

check that the power cable and ide are all pressed in firmly

when you mean it don't work - is the drive detected in My computer, it just doesn't respond, or is the drive not detected in bios?

Try going to device manager, proerties of your drive (if its being picked up) and uninstall it, when scan for new hardware and let windows reinstall it.
