Im far too lazy for my own good, and i've left a few dvd's lying around out of cases for there own good and I'm wanting to make backups so i dont loose them!

I'm not having any problems ripping dvd's to my hdd, but i havnt got a :swear: clue how to shrink & write them to dvd-r's (i cant really afford dual layer disc's atm) under linux :(

I'm ripping the dvd's under "DVD::Rip" so if somebody could give me some pointers on hwo to use it to burn dvd's that would be great (or another linux app).

    thanks

Actually, DVD::rip can shrink the files for you. You could use divx for the video, ogg for the audio. Based on the compression and resolution settings, they should fit on a single DVDR or even multiple DVD's to one DVDR. There realy is no need for a shrinking program because ripping does it in line.

    *** EDIT ***
    See this guide. Looks informative.

Here is a simple guide to DVD::rip.

Took me some time to find.
