Ok, I just recently reformatted my computer due to the speed and space, didn't want to deal with uninstalling and compressing. When it finished I was installing all of the motherboard drivers and video card drivers, I inserted my video card Cd to install the drivers. It didn't autoplay so I went to My Computer and manually started it. It had to restart the computer after it was finished installing then when it came back online it wouldn't recognize the Cd anymore. I then searched around forums to find why and it said install new firmware. When I did this it said !warning! beginning flashing, it then crashed and rebooted my system. I came back on and now the whole drive was gone, it wasn't in my device manager or anything. This has happened to me about a year ago and this guy gave me a code to put in a notepad and reboot and it worked. Now I cant find that old code and I'm lost. Can anyone help me fix this thanks Operating system: Win XP Dvd-rom: Asus Dvd-E616A Motherboard:Asus A8n5x
to put it simple, you permanently killed your drive by the failing of the firmware flash, you need a replacement presuming you want an IDE drive this is ok & it's also multi format (+ & -) & dual layer, blu-ray drive are still too expensive IMO, look Edit: strange!, never heard of that
