hiya gods, which CD / DVD writing software do you recommend ? because i´m having less luck than a dead parrot with k3b, and i can´t get nautilus to play nicely, or am i doing it wrong, bassically i loaded the boot file (.ISO image) and that resulted in the future disc contents to be: 3.9Gb, any ideas folks ? BTW: I´m using Mandriva 2k6 and trying to write Debian installation .ISO but i´ve so far been unsuccessful
tryed again with k3b, clicked <tools> <burn DVD ISO image> and k3b window just disapears with no error messages EDIT: just found error log and attached it, but i don'think i worked, so, here it is Code: System ----------------------- K3b Version: 0.12.15 KDE Version: 3.4.2 QT Version: 3.3.4 Kernel: 2.6.12-12mdksmp Devices ----------------------- LITE-ON DVDRW LDW-811S HS0R (/dev/hdc, ) at /mnt/cdrom [CD-R; CD-RW; CD-ROM; DVD-ROM; DVD-RW; DVD+R; DVD+RW] [DVD-ROM; DVD-R Sequential; DVD-RW Restricted Overwrite; DVD-RW Sequential; DVD+RW; DVD+R; CD-ROM; CD-R; CD-RW] [SAO; TAO; RAW; SAO/R96P; SAO/R96R; RAW/R16; RAW/R96P; RAW/R96R; Restricted Overwrite] HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8161B 0100 (/dev/hdd, ) at /mnt/cdrom2 [CD-ROM; DVD-ROM] [DVD-ROM; CD-ROM] [None] Used versions ----------------------- growisofs: 6.1 mkisofs: 2.1.1a03 growisofs ----------------------- Size of boot image is 8188100 sectors -> /usr/bin/mkisofs: Error - boot image '/home/dave/tmp/kde-dave/k3bnhWvma.tmp' has not an allowable size. :-( write failed: Input/output error growisofs command: ----------------------- /usr/bin/growisofs -Z /dev/hdc -use-the-force-luke=notray -use-the-force-luke=tty -speed=1 -use-the-force-luke=bufsize:32m -gui -graft-points -volid Debian -volset -appid K3B THE CD KREATOR (C) 1998-2005 SEBASTIAN TRUEG AND THE K3B TEAM -publisher -preparer -sysid LINUX -volset-size 1 -volset-seqno 1 -sort /home/dave/tmp/kde-dave/k3bNy1Mqc.tmp -rational-rock -hide-list /home/dave/tmp/kde-dave/k3bCLjKOb.tmp -joliet -hide-joliet-list /home/dave/tmp/kde-dave/k3bGHa9qa.tmp -udf -full-iso9660-filenames -iso-level 2 -path-list /home/dave/tmp/kde-dave/k3b4iPEJb.tmp -eltorito-boot boot/debian-31r2-i386-binary-1.iso -eltorito-catalog boot/boot.cataloge

I have never had any problems with K3b before, straight out of the box. However, I had a problem with DVD/CD images which did not check properly or media which was bad. Have you checked both? Normally with K3b you get an error message before you can burn. I love K3b! Then you probably not.....
This is going to sound stupid but... reinstall k3b. Seems like something is screwed in the libk3b.so you could also try to load the iso file from right click in your favorite file manager.
Try running the following command as root: Code: urpmi.removemedia ...without any arguments. Please post the results.
done Code: [dave@localhost ~]$ su Password: [root@localhost dave]# urpmi.removemedia the entry to remove is missing (one of Installation Free DVD (cdrom1), updates, main, contrib, jpackage, plf-fr ee, plf-nonfree, SoS-2006, SoS-Xchat, SoS-Xfce) [root@localhost dave]# how do i remove it if its missing ?
I don't have an answer to this, but for a quick fix you should try installing gnomebaker. Gnomebaker is a CD/DVD burner for the GNOME interface. You should be able to find it in the Mandriva repositories
