Hey, just wondering, what are the advatages of DVI over VGA, and if i pluged my monitor into a VGI to DVI convertor to plug into the Graphics Vards DVI port, would i see a better picture quality with a monitor like my 19" widescreen Acer AL1916W?

thanks, i tried my ACER AL1916W LCD Monitor with the VGA to DVI Connector and it came up with just no signal, surely it should work with the connecter?

Try pressing the Auto button on the monitor,. If that does'nt work, your video card will have to be configured to use the DVI port.

how do i configure the graphics card to use the DVi port, when i take out the VGA to DVI connector and then put it back in, the screen goes blank for a second and comes back on, and thats when the monitor is connected to the VGA port.

So my monito can deffinitly work with the DVI port?

Have you got a DVI plug on your monitor?
If its just VGA then you wont see any difference. DVI is digital and VGA is analogue, if you are using a converter then its going to be an analogue signal regardless of how the signal started out. You might as well just use VGA.

Ah i see, it's so annoying that it dont have a DVI connector, althought if i got a new graphics card that only had DVI connectors i would be preety done for then :(

I have an AOC 19LVWk that has both DVI and VGA. When I connect it to my Graphics Card using VGA it seems like things run off of the screen. When I use DVI, though, everything fits the screen perfectly and the picture seems much clearer.
