    Hi guys,

I'm building a new games PC and cant decide wich will be better, both cost the same:

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66ghz 4mb Cache 1333FSB
    Crucial 4x1GB 240-Pin DIMM PC2-6400 Unbuffered Non-ECC CL4

    or

    Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0ghz 4mb Cache 1333FSB
    Crucial 2x1GB 240-Pin DIMM PC2-6400 Unbuffered Non-ECC CL4

    Thanks

Use the first combination. Actually the two clock speeds not make much different. But on the first combination you have higher memory. And also you have same cache on both system, not much effective.

    Thanks Eranga for the reply.

After a bit of thinking I might consider quad core, so to add to the question which would be better now?

    E6750 2.66ghz with 4GB
    Q6600 2.4GHz with 2GB

Once I have the rig running for a few months I will be overclocking it. I can always add another 2GB RAM in a few months.

Well I don't see a huge different between those two, different reasons are there to select it.

When we comes to the core, first one use the Conroe and I think it s better than the Kentsfield, because as far as I know it use the dual-dies to implement it.

If you check the cache memory, the second one best for me. Because there L2 has 2x4MB. Make sense to me.

If you can use the second main board with 4GB memory. But little expensive. If you can even done it later go for the second. :p

The Q6600 seams to be the one to get.
    Thanks for the advice.

You are welcome. Are you use all 4GB memory right now?

I'll get 4GB if I can afford it.

I'm getting Vista Home 64-bit so I should be ok.

Yes you can use it on vista 64-bit OS. But I think it is better if you can use 4GB memory. Normally vista need high memory to give the maximum performance.

While we're on the subject of RAM, I'm thinking of getting two of these to make 4Gb:

    Crucial 2x1GB 240-Pin DIMM PC2-6400 Unbuffered Non-ECC CL4
    (BL2KIT12864AA80)

It got the best reviews in Computer Shopper (UK) this month
