    Hi,

I just purchased an external enclosure but got the wrong model. It only is supported by eSATA. My motherboard has an SATA port but it is SATA 1.0 and the hard drive I have is SATA 2.0 only. Since the drive is in an enclosure and changed to eSATA, if I get a SATA to eSATA cable (one of the ones that plugs into the SATA port and mounts in a PCI slot) will my drive be recognized. I'd really rather not have to buy an eSATA to USB 2.0 adapter since they're around 30 dollars.

    Thanks for the help.

eSATA - external SATA. which basically means that it is SATA HDD but used as external storage with an enclosure.

Check the specs of your mobo if it support SATA 2 or not otherwise you have to change some jumper settings to make your fast drive to SATA 1..
    Actually
    SATA 1 - 1.5 GBps
    SATA 2 - 3 GBps
To make compatible SATA 2 with Sata 1, you have to bring the speed of SATA 2 to 1.5 Gbps.....
