Since I'm planning my computer, and having the research for the components all done, I know that my system will cost about €1375 for the case and all components inside (keeping my current screen, keyboard, mouse) and 5.1 soundboxes.

I don't need it right away though, just within a couple of months.

So I was wondering if anyone has an idea how much the price can drop in 2-3 months and if there are things about to happen in that period which will make prices drop very much, e.g. a new series of videocards being launched, AMD's new socket, ...

In other words: how much cheaper could I get my system if I wait a bit before buying?

The more you wait the cheaper your system will be. I'd estimate that in 3 months time about $100 would be taken off your current price.

AMD's new socket isn't looking to really be officially introduced until the middle of this year. I don't know when we'll see the new CPU's and motherboards, but I can guarantee you that the new stuff will have a price premium on it. We don't know how big of an improvement over the current A64's the new socket will bring either.

But will the prices of the processors with socket 939 drop at that time? Or remain stagnant?

Yes, Socket 939 prices will drop somewhat, as does anything when a company is prepping for a new model to come out. How much, I don't konw.
