hi yall, ive got kubuntu installed on a 50Gb+ partition, i want to resize the partition, got a bootable CD to resize, instead of restoring the boot sector or MBR, if i were then to install (e.g. Mandriva) then i think mandria's bootloader would take control and automatically add existing partitions to the bootloader menu, is this correct ?
Yes, you can choose whether you want Mandriva's bootloader to be used or use your existing one and add the menu entries and options yourself. The first option is easier though.
well me being my usual impatient self, i installed mandriva, and chose to install mandriva's bootloader, have i perminently prevented my system from booting kubuntu or can i somehow add my old kubuntu instalation to mandriva's boot menu
Not a problem. Mandriva should have that capacity in the control panel or whatever its called. KDE has that option built in as well. You could always do it manually also. Your system isn't screwed, it just needs some config.
