    Hello, everyone.

I have a new small 40GB external drive. I don't visualise using it that much; it will primarily be for backup archives and the occasional off-site transportation of documents for use on other PCs.

For the vast majority of its time I plan to just leave it hooked up to my PC via (soley powered by a USB port). Are there any disadvantages in doing this in terms of harm to the device - or should I leave it unplugged?

    Thanks,

    Dave.
