Ok, so I decided to convert my old internal hard drive to an external when I bought a bigger hard drive. The new hard drive is working good, and I can access my external anywhere with USB, so it's all good.
Then i tried to save something to it.
Apparently, I do not have write access ANYWHERE this drive is plugged in, including at my home PC. The jumper was set to have the external be "Master", as per the enclosure's directions. And, as far as I can tell, I have not made the hard drive protected.
Has anyone run into this problem? I am guessing I may need to freshly format it, but I'd rather check for an easier solution before making that big of a move.
