Hello All!!! I've got all the parts to build my first system. Well actually I built a sempron 2400 budget system a few weeks ago for a friend, just so I could practice. Everything went well. Anway back to now, I have everything here except the Motherboard and CPU. Which is a Chaintech VNF4/Ultra and AMD 64 3200+ Venice. They will be delivered in 3 days. I was reading over the Power Supply Instructions, which is a Seasonic S12, 500W. It came with a 3 case fan adaptor. One end (4-pin) connects up to the power supply and splits off to 3, 3 pin connectors for controlling fans. 1 of them is marked "H" for full speed run and the other 2 are marked "L" for Low speed run. My fan setup is 1 Antec 120 DBB fan in the front and 1 120mm DBB for the rear. The case came with a generic 80mm LED fan for the side window. Don't know how good it is, I can't find any information on it. I think Moses built it to go on the Ark. But I'm going to try it and see how it does before I give up on it. I've cut a complete circle in the case in both the front and rear so the wimpy holes that were there won't obstruct air flow. OK Question is. Woud you advise using this adaptor, or what do you think the best setup is for cooling. the adaptor, MB fan connections or just plug them straight in to the power supply. Number of PS connections isn't an issue, I've got plenty and noise really isn't an issue eather. I want it as noiseless as possible but my main concern is the best cooling. If anyone has any thoughts on the best way to use these 3 fans as far as they way I hook them up I would appreciate it.
I think you'll be fine connecting to power supply, connecting motherboard draws the limited power to the motherboard and can be a bad thing. Also, you won't need much more or even that cooling for the venice cores. They are much better compared to earlier AMD's as cooling goes.
