Hello Im New, Sometimes When I Power Up My Pc A Horrible Noise Comes From The Fans, So I Just Keep Restarting It Until The Noise Goes? Any Ideas What It Might Be? Thanks L
Hi there and welcome! Have you looked inside your computer to see if any cable is resting on any of the fans? Do you know which fan is making the noise? I have had fans 'dry out' that have slowed down and started making noises, sometimes they can be fixed with a little lubrication.
Hi Ferg thanks for the help, but it does not apear to do it all the time? just every so often, ? Lawrie
Like he said, try to hone in on the fan that's doing it. Usually, it's just one, which can be a little frustrtating. However, sudden noise from a fan means one of two things: it's becoming poorly lubricated or there's something that's crossing paths with the blades.
the problem is that when the noise starts, it srops very quicky when i press and hold the power button and reset the pc a few times, also how can i find what fan it is? i mean the cables will be attached so cannot use the pc without the cables attached thus meaning the fans will not work? Lawrie
Try powering on the computer while you have the side cover off and you are able to look inside. If you have the side cover off and are looking inside when it is powered on, it should help you to see/hear where the noise is coming from. And like they mentioned earlier, make sure to keep an eye out for any wires inside that may be hitting the fan blades. Lastly, just as a precautionary, look for any excessive amounts of dust that may have caused a failing fan in the first place. Hope this helps.
What kind of computer is this ? Brand Name Please ... It is also possible to be the power supply fan... open the case and then start the computer without the side door on. Then you will see / hear where it is coming from..
Hi Folks, almost forgot about this post. Its a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo P Computer, ive taken the case off and its a little dusty but no cables touching the fan, the heatsink fan has an exhaust cover, so the air and dust go straight out of the case, their is fans touching the exhaust could this be the problem? it only happens on startup and not when the machine is in use.
