    Hi all,

I'm wanting to use a couple of small, cheap computer fans for a vivarium I'm building, and trying to figure out how to convert the power supply to a mains plug.

I don't have a clue when it comes to electrics, apart from the very basics i.e. how to wire a plug... so an idiot-proof description and links to converters would be great.

The fan I've been looking at is this one, but any kind of small cheap computer fan is fine if there is something else which would be simpler to use.

(also in that particular link, does that little table they have mean that if the fan is given 5V it's slow, 12V medium and 24V fast speeds? I am after quite slow fans, just for gentle circulation of air. Also silent)

Thanks in advance for any help, much appreciated.

Well let me correct you: a regular computer fan doesn't go up to 24V, it goes up to 12V which is the maximum voltage and the fastest that manufacturers recommend.

i would recommend that you put the fan on 5-10V.

Also can you please elaborate on your idea on converting a power supply to a mains plug?
