Not sure if this fits here or cooling section anyway having some issues here not sure whats wrong if anything is technically. My computer Gateway 700GR bought from bestbuy nothing fancy specs Gateway 700GR Specs. Desktops Specifications.
About two days ago I decided I wanted to move from XP home to XP Pro for networking/sharing reasons. I didnt move my drives just changed the installation from the default drive 250 the computer was shipped with to another drive thats smaller and shows a faster read/write slightly then the default drive. In doing so my fans are constantly going up and down in speed. I'm not to sure whats wrong but its rather anoying. After I installed XP Pro gateway provides all the drivers for download from their site in which case the newest appears to be a BIOS update and a DVD drive flash update. Their located here Gateway Support Drivers & Downloads
After doing all this the only thing I had installed afterwards was just updates from microsoft and notorn internet security which Ive always used. Now since then my fans fluxuiate so much its anoying :( Shutting down and powering back on with only windows loading nothing else in startup including norton (just idling) it does it still but not as bad. Just normal routine computing or more causes it to flux around. These are some screenshots from speedfan if they help out any..
Three weeks prior to all this I did clean out my system meaning I vacumed up dust and dirt, cleaned out my heatsink and fans. I live in a dusty road so dust is an issue here. Applied new thermal grease and everything was fine, even ran a couple degree's cooler. I can turn off the automatic fan ordeal in the bios but two fans running at full speed is noisy.
It possible the new bios update might be causing this or do I have a processor thats going bad?
