I just noticed over at FileShack that the much awaited 1.2 patch for FarCry is now available. This patch updates the retail edition of Far Cry to v1.2, which adds Shader 3.0 & quicksave support, makes the run speed about 15% faster, makes sprint last 30% longer and adjusts damage to vehicles among other improvements and fixes...
From the link provided in the original post... Anyone who has read the anandtech review knows that this is completely false. We see improvements in very specific areas (handpicked areas I should say). Even in the demos nvidia themselves provided, that 15% wasn't achieved in all cases, let alone the rest of the game. I'm not saying this patch is useless at all, all I'm saying is that we'll only see what the sm3.0 path can really do in games where it'll be used to its fullest (when the hardware permits it). This particular feature is being blown out of proportion if I consider that comment. As for the rest of the patch, I'm not sure as I don't have the game so I haven't paid attention to it. I'm personally waiting for the Battlefield: Vietnam patch.
