Hello, i am experiencing some problems with my computer and i need help with diagnosing the problem. When i play games like COD, Crysis etc. my computer kinda freezes for a few seconds and then it works good until this thing happens again like 10 seconds after it. I also notice that when this happens, fan on graphic card slows down... But i have to mention that 3DMARK works just fine and i get a good score. Does it mean i have a faulty HD4870 card or it can be something else? Thanks for help!
Hi, It could be the video card causing the problem or something else such as hard drive, ram, or operating system. I would check your hard drive for fragmentation to see if a defrag helps solve the problem. Also, if your hard drive is full, it may cause hiccups like this if it doesnt have enough space left for page file. I would then reseat all of the cables, connectors, and expansion cards in the computer in case something has worked its way loose and then test. To test the ram, I would run Memtest86 to see if any of your RAM is giving errors. Also, make sure all of your graphics drivers are up to date to see if it is a driver causing the problem. If you have a different video card, try swapping out your current card to see if a new card has the same problem. If none of this helps the problem, I would try swapping out the power supply to see if it is having problems providing enough power to the system. You could also try doing a clean install of the operating system to see if Windows is causing the problem as well.
